Wimal Dissanayake教授目前任職夏威夷大學創意媒體學術中心(Academy for Creative Media),專長在於傳播理論及亞洲電影研究。除了對中國、香港及印度電影有深度的研究之外,Dissanayake教授最為迷人的地方,在於從電影中窺探出亞洲觀點,並抽譯提升至理論層次,藉此與西方理論展開對話.

CINEMA AS A SITE OF UNDESTANDING ASIAN APPROACHES TO COMMUNICATION: THE OUTLINE OF THE LECTURE


1. Cinema as a cultural practice. The interconnections between art, entertainment, industry, technology, ideology etc.

2. Cinema and communication. The complex relationships between the director, film, audiences, the background in which this interaction takes place.

3. Cinema originated in the West. Very quickly, it became an indigenous art form. What are the indigenous features?

4. The cinema of Yasujiro Ozu. The way it reflects Japanese culture. Implications for communication.

5. Chinese cinema and indigenous aesthetics. How it illuminates Chinese approaches to communication.

6. Popular Indian cinema and tradition. Communicational significance of Indian popular films.

7. Chinese martial arts films and their importance in understanding Chinese approaches to communication.

8. The representation of emotion in Asian films and its importance for the study of communication.
